Organisation profile

The Center for General Education was established in 1996 and is responsible for overall affairs relevant to general education at the University. The Center comprises three divisions, namely the Administration Division, Teaching Division and Planning & Development Division. The Administration Division deals with general affairs in the center, while the Teaching Division coordinates teaching-related affairs, such as curriculum development and teaching evaluation. This latter division is further divided into six fields related to core courses, in humanities, social sciences, nature and engineering sciences, life sciences and health and interdisciplinary integration. Finally, the Planning & Development Division works to promote general education activities, such as organizing lectures and speeches, and publishing books. The Center also has a committee to deliberate on important issues of policy making and curriculum planning. The Chief Director, who is appointed by the President of NCKU, is in charge of the administration of general education and acts as a convener of the General Education Committee on campus.
