The Anatomy Department was founded in 1983, as a division of the Department of Medicine in the NCKU Medical College. The first head of the institute was Prof. Ching-LiangShen (沈清良). From 1994 to 1997, Prof. Shi-Yuan Yang (楊西苑) was the head of the institute. From 1997 to 2000 Prof. Ching-Liang Shen (沈清良) returned and served as institute head again. In the year 2000, the name of the department was changed to the Institute of Cell Biology and Anatomy. Prof. Shur-Tzu Chen (陳淑姿) was the head of this new institute from 2000 to 2003. After 2000, the new institute began a Master’s program. From 2003 to 2006 Prof. Chin-Hsien Chien (簡基憲) administered the institute. From 2006 to 2012, Prof. Bu-Miin Huang (黃步敏), is serving as the head of the institute .From 2012 to2015 Professor Yu-Min Kuo(郭余民) was the head of the institute. From 8/1/2015, Professor Chun-I Sze(司君一) is the head of the institute. Since 2001, the institute began accepting students in the PhD program from the Institute of Basic Medical Research in theNCKU Medical College.
