Organisation profile

The predecessor of the Department was the Civil Engineering Division of Tainan Technical High School founded in 1944. When the Provincial Tainan Industrial College was promoted to Taiwan Provincial College of Engineering in 1946, the Department was formally established, and the master and doctor degrees were instituted in 1959 and 1971, respectively. There are more than 8,000 graduates in the industries and academia today.To provide capable and excellent engineers in the country, the undergraduate program is designed to train the students in basic principles and to enhance their abilities in analysis, design and experimental work. The graduate program includes the fields of Structural Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structures and Materials, and Engineering Management.
