The department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering has been established since 1955. The Department currently includes a regular B.S. program since1955, a regular. M.S. program since 1972, a Ph.D. program since 1985 and an on-the-job M.S. program since 2000. The B.S. program of the department annually recruits approximately 60 freshmen. The regular M.S. program recruits 45 students while the on-the-job M.S. program recruits 12 students. There are 7 students admitted to the Ph.D. program annually. The courses provide for the students include Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering, Ocean/Coastal Engineering and other related fields. The current research fields in the Department include: 1. Fluids Mechanics and Numeracal Analysis. 2. River Regularization and Flood Mitigation. 3. Water Resources Development and Management. 4. Hydrology and Groundwater. 5. Hazards Regularization and Soil & Water Conservation Engineering. 6. Coastal and Harbor Engineering. 7. Water Wave and Off-Shore Engineering. 8. Acoustics and Underwater Measurement. 9. Ecological Hydraulics. 10. Environmental Sustainable Development.
