成大眼科部於民國七十七年六月本院啟用時正式成立。
本科屬醫學系﹐主任為黃福進醫師﹐現在編制共有二位助理教授、二位講師、兩位兼任講師及二位主治醫師。
醫院編制為部主任一人、科主任二人、專科主治醫師七人，及住院醫師二人，十餘年來，在醫療、教學及研究三方面不斷努力邁進。為因應需要，除一般眼科普通門診外，並設立眼角膜特別門診、視網膜特別門診、青光眼特別門診、屈調與眼肌特別門診、腫瘤及整型特別門診，由職司專精的醫師負責診治。特別門診通常設於下午，須由一般門診篩檢後轉介到各特別門診，其可免除病人之盲目就診，各專科醫師可集中心力專門探討，使病人得到最佳之照顧和醫療服務，而住院醫師與實習醫師也可藉巡迴至各診，參與學習各類眼科疾病之診斷和治療。
科部特色：
本科的一般門診多設於上午，而特別門診多設於下午，須由一般門診篩檢之後轉介到各該科 特別門診，其目的不但可免除病人盲目就診，使其得到最佳之照顧與醫療服務，而住院醫師與實習醫師也可藉巡迴至各診，參與學習各類疾病，各專科醫師也可集中心力專門探討。除醫療及教學水準之提升外，本科也訂定和規劃了基礎醫學之研究計劃，將逐年付諸實行。
