Organisation profile

The Department of Physics was established in 1956 when our university was renamed as the Taiwan Provincial Cheng Kung University from formerly Taiwan Provincial Engineering College. The Physics Department started the Master program in 1971 when the University was promoted to be a National University, and then initiated the PhD program in 1986. The goal of our education is to cultivate physicists to meet the requirements of national scientific researches and developments. Our education principle equally weighs the importance of the teaching and research. So far, seven teaching and sixteen research laboratories have been installed. The Department has endeavored to recruit top scholars. Currently, we have totally 34 faculty members, including 23 professors, 5 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors.

Fingerprint The fingerprint is based on mining the text of the scientific documents related to the associated persons. Based on that an index of weighted terms is created, which defines the key subjects of research unit
