Established in 1994, the Institue of Manufacturing Information and Systems, IMIS( Originally Institute of Manufacturing Engineering, IME) at National Cheng Kung University is the first research institute in Taiwan that encompasses the fields of e-Manufacturing, Automation Technology, Manufacturing Management, and Manufacturing Systems. As one of the leading academic units, the institute currently provides both PhD and Master programs in a hope to nurture future engineers and leaders of domestic industries. The main objective of IMIS lies in cultivating specialists in fields related to Manufacturing Information and System Integration (e.g. e-Manufacturing,Manufacturing Technology,Manufacturing Systems and Manufacturing Management,etc.) to respond to the upgrading demand of domestic high-tech and manufacturing industries. Also, the institute-university cooperative research projects.
