Research Interests

  • Chen's research interests are in computational solid mechanics, multiscale materials modeling, and machine learning enhanced data-driven computing. He has developed advanced Finite Element and Meshfree Methods for multi-physics multi-scale modeling, reduced order and dimension reduction simulations, machine learning enhanced data-driven computational mechanics, feature-encoded physics-informed digital twins, contact-impact problems, computational fracture and damage mechanics, computational shock dynamics, computational biomechanics, and computational geomechanics.
