Abstract
Augmented Reality (AR) can provide creative interpretation, annotation or guidance in a suitable position based on the user's situation by confirming the relative positional relationship between virtual and actual phenomena on the display device. In this way, it will be possible to provide a new operation mode for human-machine interactions and applications. So far, the construction of AR applications involves with many aspects. The technical requirements or application occasions may vary with these aspects. This research intends to analyze design strategy and requirements of AR by a three-axis cube design perspective which includes tracking, rendering, and interacting three main aspects. This cube design perspective includes multiple elements, each of which is a unique combination of the aforementioned three design aspects and can be developed as different AR applications. We try to use this cube design perspective to outline the possibility for the combination of AR and spatial information system, and then to discuss the design thinking, potential and impact of developing customized innovative operation modes.
