Abstract
IC foundry companies' IT department plays an important role in supporting collaborative commerce evolution. This study explored the competitive advantage of the top two IC foundry companies in the world from IT departments' point of view. The results show that the IC foundry companies support technology leadership advantage, manufacturing leadership advantage, and service leadership advantage through the collaboration commerce activities between customers. This study also shows that the IT department should focus on the following issues to pursue the long-term competitive advantages. The IT department should establish a customer-focused service culture; adjust the human resources allocation into more service-related filed; unify service window and provide customers one-stop service; enhance business to business (B2B) e-commerce applications; satisfy customers around the world which cross-regional, cross-time difference and provide 24x7 service; accompany with the company's development, strengthen cooperation relationship between the players in IC industry value chain. The most important thing in this study is non-core department still can maximize his value to support the company's competence.
