Abstract
BIM has been widely applied to the MEP construction. However, one of the issues in applying BIM at the construction site is that the model cannot be accurately positioned as required. Mixed Reality is then employed to assist engineers to perform MEP construction because of its ability of displaying and modify virtual model according to the actual construction location. But inconsistent information discovered when engineers use BIM during the construction process cannot be efficiently identified so as to modify the as-built BIM via the mixed reality device. Therefore, this study first analyzes the information requirements for the operation processes and operational issues during MEP construction. Then determining the specifications of BIM development, cloud database structure, and functions of mixed reality to build the information collaboration system between the BIM and the mixed reality device. As a result, the proposed system improves the operation efficiency of the MEP construction but also smooths the process of developing the as-built BIM.
