Abstract

Social media plays an essential role in the current generation. Nowadays, students born in the era that social network is well-developed and indispensable to their lives. At the same time, the world is full of complexity and challenges. Creativity is crucial to surviving in a changeable society. Therefore, educators should prioritize creativity in education, and social media has the potential to cultivate students’ creativity. The study reviews the literature investigating the relationship between social media, education, and creativity. The potentials of social media in “teaching creativity” and “teaching for creativity” are explored. The study discusses social media’s pedagogical application in creativity education and further takes Facebook, Instagram, Podcast, and Clubhouse as examples. The study helps educators and researchers gain an in-depth understanding of social media’s use in education and unveil social media’s potential for “teaching creativity” and “teaching for creativity.”
