Abstract

The purpose of this study is to realize a non-condensing environment by developing a new type of desiccant air-conditioning system with lower energy consumption. In this paper, the authors studied several types of desiccant air-conditioning systems which are combined with CO_2 heat pumps, and the systems are considered to be adapted as outdoor air conditioning systems in hotel buildings. The overall energy efficiency of the proposed systems (the combined system) is compared with those of the conventional outdoor air-conditioning systems. The results show that the system COP of the proposed systems has a value of 2.1〜2.2, which is less than the conventional air-conditioning system with a total heat exchanger, but is a very substantial increase in energy efficiency compared with a conventional desiccant cooling system and a conventional outdoor air-conditioning system under the conditions of no-condensing inside the indoor cooling units.
