Abstract

This article presents a 5.7 GHz CMOS single-balanced mixer for an IEEE 802. 11a WLAN receiver application. The RF input frequency of the mixer is 5.725 to 5.825 GHz, the LO frequency is 5.445 to 5.545 GHz and the IF is 280 MHz. The mixer is fabricated with the 0.18 μm 1P6M standard CMOS process. The measurements are performed using a FR-4 PCB test fixture. The fabricated mixer exhibits a small signal conversion gain of -4.5 dB, a noise figure of 14.6 dB and an input P1dB of 0 dBm. The power consumption is 10.8 mW at V DD = 1.8 V.
