Abstract

A dual-band bandpass filter with good closed band and multi transmission zero using dual-stepped impedance resonator (dual-SIR), U-shape folded arm and folded coupled I/O lines is presented. The two distinct types of dual-band filters with and without multi transmission zero generating mechanisms are studied. The type I filter is designed at 2.4 and 3.5 GHz passband and the filter consists of daul-SIR to produce the wide passband and U-shape folded arm I/O line to control the notch band at3 GHz. As for the type II filter, the response of multi transmission zero is generated by using the folded coupled I/O lines. The frequency response of wide stopband is around -30dB from 3.8 to 8 GHz. The measured results are favorably in agreement with the full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation results.
