Abstract

The railway system in Taiwan is flourishing and a large number of people rely on it everyday. However, passengers often complain about the insufficient information, schedule delay, crowded carriage, inappropriate temperature of the carriage, and so on. In order to improve the safety, comfort and convenience of the railway system, context-awareness will be a good approach as the maturity of needed technologies, architecture, and algorithms. However, due to the large scale of the railway system, context information management and integration should be taken into consideration. Therefore, in this study, we design a context-aware railway architecture and a context information management strategy. Based on the context-aware railway architecture and the context information management strategy, the context-aware railway system can be built and the cooperation with other systems can be achieved efficiently.
