A cooperative collision early-warning system for vehicles in the curve environment

Abstract

A Cooperative Collision Early-Warning System (CCEW) was proposed in this paper to tackle the Driving Safety concern. CCEW is a pre-warning algorithm that can be used in the curve environment. In CCEW, vehicles broadcast Relationship Information (RI) to neighboring vehicles through wireless communication (e.g. DSRC) periodically. Each vehicle calculates whether potential collision may happen or not upon the RI messages that were received. After calculation, the CCES system sends a warning message to the driver if the collision between two vehicles may occur. The results show that the warning accuracy rate of CCEW outperforms others in the curve environment.
