Abstract

An efficient grey prediction motion estimator is proposed in this paper. Based on the grey system theory, the estimator can determine the motion vectors of image blocks quickly and correctly. The experimental results show that the proposed estimator performs better than other search algorithms in terms of six different measures. The VLSI architecture of the algorithm has been designed and implemented, and it can yield a search rate of 680 K blocks/sec with a clock rate of 66 MHz.
