Abstract

This study introduces a feasible structural design to suppress vibrations at low frequencies. The system consists of multiple beam segments arranged in a spiral shape and a square plate located at the center. It is found that a resonant-type bandgap exists in such a structure. Introducing an analytical approach can accurately predict the lower edge frequency of the bandgap. Within the bandgap, flexural wave propagation is prohibited.
