A Novel Doppler Resilient Waveform Design for MIMO Radar Based on Complete Complementary Codes and Zero Correlation Zone Sequence Sets

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel design of Doppler resilient (DR) waveforms for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems to enhance target detection performance. The proposed waveforms are constructed from a new class of sequence sets that combine the properties of the complete complementary code (CCC) and the zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequence set, termed the CCC-ZCZ sequence set. The ambiguity function of the proposed CCC-ZCZ-based waveforms demonstrates superior Doppler tolerance and lower range sidelobes. Additionally, a systematic construction based on generalized Boolean functions (GBFs) is proposed to generate CCC-ZCZ sequence sets with various parameters. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed waveforms based on the CCC-ZCZ sequence set achieve superior detection performance compared to existing alternatives in MIMO radar systems.
