Abstract

In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex based system, inter-cell interference is an important issue which impacts signal quality between base stations and user equipments (UEs), especially for UEs at cell edge. In order to relieve this problem, Third Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution defines high interference indicator (HII) and overload indicator (OI) to avoid high interference for uplink. However, OI may produce negative effect when operators does not carefully use it. To overcome this issue, this paper proposes a novel scheme to mitigate uplink inter-cell interference. We introduce a new indicator with HII and OI to ensure improvement of system performance. Simulation results show that our scheme can effectively enhance uplink throughput of cell edge UEs as well as the total uplink throughput.
