Abstract
The key to the success of any parallel approach is balance loading on each processor. A novel approach involving the network diakoptics algorithm, which separates a power network into a number of equally-sized subnetworks to minimize the load unbalance, is proposed in this study. Using the proposed approach, the number of nodes in each subnetwork is more uniform and the computation time is less. Simulation results of the IEEE test systems and the Taiwan Power Company's (TPC) 288-bus system are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed method and its capability to implement parallel processing on the load flow problem.
