Abstract

A refined model of hydrodynamically lubricated cold rolling considering the thermal and pressure effects on the lubricant is shown in a flow chart of the solution method. The characteristics of strip rolling are closely related to the lubricant viscosity and the plastic property of the strip. These non-dimensional material parameters include the pressure-viscosity parameter G, the temperature-viscosity parameter E and the thermal plastic parameter K. Some rolling behaviours predicted by this model are quite different to those obtained by Dow1.
