Abstract

A single-inductor multiple positive and negative output (SIMPNO) converter provides a compact-size and high efficiency solution for electronic paper displays (EPDs) system. The proposed vector current control mode (VCCM) operation with an adaptive current control methodology can wisely minimize the current tolerance to be smaller than 10% between input and all outputs. Additionally, the VCCM technique can ensure the cross regulation to be smaller than 0.35 mV/mA even when a large load current step occurs between the positive and negative outputs. The test chip was fabricated through 0.25 Hm BiCMOS-DMOS (BCD) process with a peak efficiency of 90% at heavy loads.
