Abstract

The human driving habits of slamming the accelerator or brake usually make unnecessary fuel consumption and carbon emissions. This paper proposes a speed control scheme of eco-driving at road intersections to avoid frequent stop-and-go driving. The scheme can smooth over the variation of vehicle speed, reduce the waiting time of the vehicle and improve the number of vehicles to pass through the intersection in a time slot. Simulation results show the proposed scheme performs well in terms of the evaluations of average waiting time and amount of carbon emission.
