Abstract
This paper is to analyze the inhomogeneous distributed long-term wave data over Taiwan waters by using the principal component analysis and the cluster analysis for the study of the homogeneity of the regional wave climate along coasts. From the hierarchical plot, it shows that the Euclidean distance of the spatial homogeneous distribution of the winter case is the shortest along the northern coast of Taiwan. In 12 observation stations, no matter it is the winter, the summer and the whole year, there will be demarcated 11 independent wave climates according to the minimum Euclidean distance.
