Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a versatile signal processing board based on the TMS320C80 multimedia video processor. Various IC components and programmable logic devices are integrated to constitute a flexible platform for real-time multimedia applications such as videoconferencing, speech coding, and graphic animation. This system supports video display/capture and audio playback/record, as well as an expansion module suitable for ASIC testing, and performance enhancement by adding motion estimation and CELP processors.
