Abstract

Adaptive PID control for cascade control systems has been developed. Controller tuning is based on adaptive models. Parameters of the models are identified by using weighted least-squares estimation via recursive formulas. The identification interval, which is different from the sampling interval, is automatically adjusted. The difficulties of choosing the identification interval and tuning controllers for cascade control systems are avoided. Both simulation and experimental results show satisfactory results.
