Abstract

Summary form only given, as follows. When confidential data are transmitted over communication channels or stored in storage systems, one of the most important issues of concern is the assurance of their privacy, reliability, and authenticity (integrity). Algebraic codes have long been proved to be very powerful in correcting noise errors. Here algebraic-code encoding is combined with block chaining encryptions to obtain data secrecy, data reliability, and data authenticity simultaneously. These schemes can be implemented very efficiently and thus are very practical for use in computer systems.
