An adaptive controller with optimal quadratic pole and zero assignment

Abstract

This paper presents an adaptive algorithm for designing a plant input-output feedback system to achieve a desired optimal quadratic closed-loop transfer function for scalar discrete-time systems. The performance of the adaptive controller related with the stability margin of the nominal design is studied. The behavior of the adaptive algorithm, the importance of proper choice of the closed-loop transfer function and the influence of observer polynomial are illustrated by simulation examples.
