An Adaptive Stereoscopic Video Streaming Mechanism Using MV-HEVC and 3D-HEVC Technologies

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an adaptive stereoscopic video streaming mechanism using MV-HEVC and 3D-HEVC technologies. When the current available bandwidth is insufficient for delivering all video layers, the mechanism selects the MV-HEVC and 3D-HEVC video pictures near the current playing point with the proposed rate control algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive streaming mechanism can provide tolerable video quality under packet loss conditions in wireless networking environment.
