An analysis of misaligned single-row angular-contact ball bearing

Abstract

An analytical method that takes into account the centrifugal force and the angular misalignment is used to examine the contact mechanisms of a ball bearing. The misalignment, the deformations created in the axial and radial directions of a bearing system are considered as the three knowns. In the ball bearing, increasing the positive angular misalignment reduced the contact angle of the inner raceway at the position angle of 180°. Due to the centrifugal force, the normal force acting on the outer raceway is higher than that of the inner raceway. Increasing a bearing's angular misalignment lowered both the axial and radial load capacities.
