Abstract

The present invention is an ankle-foot orthosis with a flexible joint. It is consisted of the feet plate, shank sleeve, and the flexible joint. The feet plate supports the foot of the stroke patient when using the AFO and help the patient toe off in the pre-swing phase of a gait cycle. The shank sleeve ties at the shank by the elastic belts. The flexible joint locates near the ankle and link between the feet plate and shank sleeve. The flexible joint has an asymmetric structure, which has one front notch and several back notches to limit the bending angle of the plantar flexion and dorsi-flexion of the ankle. Besides, the feet plate has a lift in the front side for easily toe off.
