A new uni-axial tensile testing system to measure the Young's modulus of a miniature specimen was developed. Using digital image processing techniques, the displacement of the gripper was measured to calibrate the specimen displacement to obtain more accurate data. The test specimens were different sizes and all were made of copper. The Young's modulus determined by the new method compared well with those obtained by using the digital image correlation method.
