An enhanced mechanism for supporting mobile networks in mobile IP

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

Mobile IP enables mobile hosts to change locations in the Internet without modifying their IP addresses. The standard Mobile IP assumes that mobile hosts always stay in their mobile networks. In many occasions, such as battlefields, emergency rescues, and outdoor teaching, mobile hosts may leave and then return to their mobile networks. This paper developed an enhanced mechanism for mobile networks without the above limitation. The mechanism also provides regional registration, smooth handoff, and reduced routing path for improving performance.
