An Individual Video Learning Material Recommendation System on Myspace Applying an Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

Abstract

MySpace has received a lot of attention as a social network that facilitates interpersonal relationships. The main features are social features related to communication, the building of specific social communities, and the sharing of music and videos with friends. Recently, MySpace has been applied widely in a variety of fields for education, in which video learning materials are provided on a sharing platform for learners. However, shared videos may not conform to an individual's learning needs. To enable learners to quickly browse the most important and useful video learning materials, this study proposes a video learning material recommendation system that utilizes an artificial bee colony algorithm to provide video learning materials according to difficulty level, popularity, and degree of association related to specific course topics in order to accommodate individual preferences. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method improves the accuracy of the video learning material recommendation system and that it outperforms other methods.
