An iterative soft multiuser demodulation for non-binary LDPC coded FFH MA/MFSK systems

Abstract

An iterative soft multiuser demodulation is propose for non-binary LDPC coded FFH MA/MFSK system to increase spectral efficiency under specific signal-to-noise ratio and data rate. To obtain more useful information from non-coherent demodulator, a three-level hard-limited detector followed by a soft value calculator is proposed. Hard-limited thresholds are determined by maximum-likelihood criterion. When multiuser process is carried out, the soft output from channel decoder is adopted to identify reliable symbols. The reliable information iteratively updates the soft output calculation in the demodulation. Numerical results show that the spectral efficiency is 0.54 bit/sec/Hz over AWGN channel and 0.51 bit/sec/Hz over Rayleigh fading channel at Eb/No = 25dB when code rate is 3/4.
