N2 - This review is focused on the use of column liquid chromatography for the analysis of aliphatic monobasic carboxylic acids including their ester derivatives. The principles of HPLC including different separation modes and detection methods for the quantitative analysis of fatty acids are summarized. The extraction procedures and specific applications of HPLC for the analysis of fatty acids in real samples are also described.
