Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the flow potential with the aid of image method and to express the potential function in terms of complex variables. The flow field occurs between two parallel or slightly inclined surfaces with a single or several point sources. Equipotential lines of flow field are thus obtained through a mapping theory. It was found that the final solution based on the potential theory, as a matter of fact, is equivalent to the solution originated from the viscous effect. This evidence is illustrated from the mathematical viewpoint, and the result is again confirmed to be true by finite element method.
