Abstract
Discharge experiments of lead-acid and li-polymer batteries are performed and the change of battery voltages and currents as well as the battery duration are observed in order to find a proper type of battery used for the proposed underwater telemetry system in this paper. Additionally, a low-cost integrated circuit (IC) and buck-type converters are used to obtain the power requirements for the facilities of the proposed underwater telemetry systems including underwater acoustic modems, a single board computer and vertical line array hydrophones with conditioning amplifiers. To verify the stability and feasibility of the designed power converters, the output voltages of power converters are measured as the load changes from a light load to a heavy load.
