Abstract

There were numerous mechanical inventions in ancient China. This chapter introduces the historical development of ancient Chinese machinery and presents major mechanical members and mechanisms in ancient times, such as linkage mechanisms, cam mechanisms, gear mechanisms, and flexible connecting mechanisms (belts, ropes, and chains).
