Anisotropy in piezoelectric properties of calcium-modified lead titanate ceramics

Abstract

Anisotropy in the piezoelectric properties of calcium-modified lead titanate (Pb0.76Ca0.24)[(Fe2/3W1/3)0.04 Ti0.96]O3 (PCFWT) ceramics with 1 wt% MnO2 was investigated in this study. Maximum kt/kp of PCFWT ceramics reached 15 when sintered at 1150°C for 7 h. The planar coupling factor (kp) of PCFWT ceramics was negligibly influenced by the poling electric field from 2 kV/mm to 9 kV/mm. The thickness coupling factor (kt) of PCFWT ceramics increased with increasing electric field from 2 kV/mm to 8 kV/mm and resulted in the increase of kt/kp. kt/kp reached a maximum Value of 15 at a poling electric field of 8 kV/mm.
