Abstract
We have cultivated a hybridoma cell-line H505AC in suspension and alginate immobilized cell bioreactors to produce anti-Hepatitis B surface Antigen (anti-HBsAg) monoclonal antibody IgM. The specific IgM production rates correlate linearly with the specific glucose consumption rate in suspension culture with a maximum production rate of 300 μg/106 cells/day. In alginate-cell immobilized airlift bioreactor, a total of 1143 milligrams IgM was produced in 9 days operation with a volumetric productivity 44.1 mg/day.L
