Application of the trajectory image method to modeling solute transport

Abstract

Trajectory image method (TIM), a new modeling technique based on image theory, is a quasi-analytical solution. TIM was developed for modeling of groundwater flow and demonstrated more accurate results than by FDM, FEM, and BEM. Unlike BEM, complicated time integrations are avoided under unsteady-state conditions in using TIM. This paper applies this new method to model solute transport. The results show that there is no physical dispersion as occurred in FDM and FEM. -Authors
