Abstract

A rigid chain is a kinematic chain with zero-degree of freedom. A basic rigid chain is one without any rigid subchain. The authors study the characteristics of basic rigid chains, develop an algorithm to synthesize all possible nonisomorphic basic rigid chains, and list the atlas of basic rigid chains up to nine bars.
