Abstract
Based on the ideal solution and the regular solution model and using the Gibbs free energy of alloy systems, the thermodynamic principle for drawing phase diagrams is described. A numeral calculation method for solving nonlinear equations is discussed. The methods and the sequence for drawing phase diagrams are given. By using an IBM-PC microcomputer, some binary phase diagrams for the Mo-Ru, Os-Nb, W-Pd and Mo-Ir systems have been drawn. The comparison of the calculated phase diagrams with experimental ones has shown that the type, form and precision of the phase diagrams depend on the free energy model and the relative thermodynamic parameters of the alloy systems.
