### Abstract

A boundary integral equation model for the analysis of transient nonlinear free surface waves was developed. Galerkin's method of weighted residual was used to include the dynamic free surface boundary condition into the boundary integral equation model. To resolve the nonlinear dynamic problem, an incremental time integration scheme is presented. Numerical results of the test example obtained by the present model were compared with an analytical linear solution and a linear BIEM solution. Good agreements were obtained.
