Boundary element simulation of transient nonlinear waves

Abstract

A boundary element model for the analysis of transient nonlinear free surface waves is developed. Galerkin's method of weighted residual is used to include the dynamic free surface boundary condition into the boundary element model. To resolve the nonlinear dynamic problem, an incremental time integration scheme is presented. Numerical results of the test example obtained by the present model are compared with analytic linear solution and linear BIEM solution. Good agreements are obtained. (A)
