Abstract

In the last few decades, VoIP over wireless has received a considerable amount of attention. Since wireless networks based on the IEEE 802.11 standard are popular and have been widely deployed, it is natural to study the transmission of VoIP traffic over 802.11 networks. Numerous studies have been carried out to evaluate the performance of VoIP traffic over 802.11 networks. However, most of these studies are concentrated on one-hop situations; only a few works have addressed the topic of supporting audio application over multihop, ad hoc networks. Multihop networks are more flexible and have many applications, and it would be valuable to investigate VoIP performance in these situations.
