In this article, a CCD digital camera system, which comprises a CCD digital camera, two inclinometers, and a self-designed bracket, was built to measure the curvature and ovalization of each cross-section of a circular tube subjected to cyclic bending. The CCD digital camera can take photographs of the changes in the circular tube during the bending process. Simultaneously, the images taken by the CCD digital camera are analyzed by means of software to determine the cross-sectional ovalization of the circular tube. In addition, two inclinometers are employed to measure and control the magnitude of curvature of the circular tube under bending. To test the capability of this newly designed measurement system, a tube-bending machine was employed to test, experimentally, a 7005-T53 aluminum alloy tube under cyclic bending, and the CCD digital camera system was utilized to measure the curvature and each cross-sectional ovalization of the tube.
